The artist has donated the full amount of his £25,000 honor prize money to the MVT, which functions to protect the UK's small concert spaces.

The star was awarded the prize on 16 October as his latest record his work was declared the best record of the last 12 months.

The musician has decided to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the vital role local spots had in his beginning days.

"I would not have achieved this success if it weren't for all the gigs I performed around the region, and further afield, when I was beginning," stated Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these locations have shut down – about 16% of the entire UK sector.

Over the past year, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its initiatives to support the industry, by including a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which supports independent venues.

Fender also took part, collecting over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to support thirty-eight small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation assisted venues that were dealing with possible closure due to challenges arising from flooding, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Other venues were granted monetary aid in modernizing facilities and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and fans.

"The concept that money from shows in large arenas backs the independent spots, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just common sense," Fender has commented.

He is far from the only musician to give his honor prize money to worthy causes.

In Pulp won the award in 1996 for their record Different Class, vocalist the singer stated that the band would donate their prize money to the charity War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer she split her bounty among multiple charities, including the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I gave a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they needed new equipment," Ms Dynamite told the media.

Previously, they contributed their funds to the local youth club that supported their act, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

And winners that year M People donated their prize to a MS organization after a acquaintance was found to have the condition.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," said artist the singer. "The prize was the cherry on top but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our victory impacted another person's life."

Recently, the trust announced it had rescued several grassroots venues in that region, by placing them under local control.

The first in Southampton and the other in Bristol were purchased under the public acquisition program, which is backed by a national body and supporters who purchase "stakes" in the properties.
