Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.
Social Media Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
